Proposal of National Clan Tournament/League/Division

The other night I was thinking about National Clans and how awesome it used to be to see the best players of a country face off against another. We're probably in our last year or so of this great game, and I think it would be great if we could get some of that action again, make International League a truly "international" league.

The idea is to have a tournament or league for national clans. Perhaps like WCLC or just make it a separate division of IL. We could do it on a different day of the week than regular IL, and probably should try to have the majority of it played outside the regular season.

If we could just pull off ONE season of this I think it would be awesome. To capture some of that national spirit in the MKW community would be amazing, a real reminder of what this game used to be like before it finally ends.

I'd really like some support for this idea. Please tell me what you think.

EDIT: After speaking to a few friends on Skype, having national teams also gives the option to have large and amazing player rosters. Possible 10v10 wars anyone?

Nice idea, but I think this has been done before when WCL was still around. The only problem I see with this is that only certain people would play for the national 'team' so it would be almost the same LU's each week.

The matches would be fun to watch.

This would be messy for countrys like Mexico for example where the national team is dead from long ago and has no actual leader.

Dont know the other countries situation. just speaking from what i know but hey its not a bad idea!

good idea it will be difficult to get many countries to play this because they preffer to play with their main clans but if this is finally done, ESP accept the challange

This has been tried before quite a few times, but has always failed due to a lack of interest after 2-3 weeks. Most weaker teams didn't take it seriously as there was no fun in losing by >200 every week.

Another problem was trying to get teams like GER together, I wouldn't be surprised if they would sign up with multiple teams (G37, NFO and the rest?), all claiming to be "THE" Team Germany. That said, I should be able to get 5 Dutch players together. 10v10 will be hard though, and I think that would be the case for most smaller countries.

Thats true, most probably GER and FR wont give a fuck (i just think that) but the idea is good

If there would be enough interest to see this through then it would be great for it to happen. Summer is probably the best time to think about doing this, if it were to happen.

Yeah summer would definitely be best for this, I think if we did this it should definitely be during June/July/August

I think it is better for this league to stay as a clan only league... Mainly because we all know what would happen if a "National" Team section was created. It would consist of one leader claiming an entire country and getting his/her friends to join and play in a certain lineup. As a member of the United States country, I don't want some person like, for example, Eirik claiming the USA and setting up lineups of his friends to compete against another person like Mikey of Canada and playing against his friends. It wouldn't represent the opportunity for everyone who wanted to play to get involved unlike the IL clan section and would be putting down members of smaller, less known clans that compete in the league.

I do think however, we should bring back the WCLC or "ILC" on Saturdays.

Exactly this... i know the same situation would go with all the countrys

It would be more correct perhaps to elect a team of 10 active players for each country?

Say we have nominees and citizens of that country can vote for their lineup for the National League

didn't know national clans were still alive lol. It'd be nice to see though

WCLC remake would be cool too though I couldn't play it. We could try doing like division all star teams (WCL tried this once I believe) where each team selects a nominee to play for their division (6v6s matches) and play a 6 team tournament, D1 getting bye of course but not sure how that'll play out with 7 teams.

The past 3 times National tournaments or small leagues were done, they failed hard. Not sure if it was because he staffing in those attempts though. Regardless, it will be a difficult task.

There's a point to start organizing this sooner than later than, to make sure it has as few flaws as possible. If we could get people really pumped about this, to support their national teams, I think a smooth season would be possible

i think we should have something like the wclc and have matches played on saturday(using the normal IL time) the same 1 week rule or freewin or whatever should apply and this would prevent the backlog of fixtures which happend in the wcl. This would ask work for the other tournaments you suggest

I would prefer just kind of new WCLC without any "national" clans

but that idea is actually not bad...you also could do teams like USA1 USA2... that everyone can play

There wouldn't necessarily have to only be one leader. There could be a group of leaders for a nation that span over all kinds of clans to make it more even.

it's an interesting idea but i don't think it'll work out. I've been wanting to implement a kind of playoff-ish tournament for the clans participating in the IL after the season ends, but I haven't been doing much of anything in the league recently (as you all may have been able to notice) and I, quite frankly, haven't cared enough about the community. Maybe when summer comes I'll care enough to go out with a bang before I head on off to college but I don't know.
